Frequently asked questions
How do conferences get listed?
Submissions come through the add form and are open to anyone. Each each one is reviewed by hand before it appears.
Does listing a conference cost anything?
No. Listing is free and always has been. Advertising is separate, labelled Featured, and never buys a Recommended label.
Why are online conferences missing?
The calendar covers in-person and hybrid events only. Every entry has a real venue and a real city behind the listing.
What does the Recommended label mean?
A recommended conference reflects direct experience of the event or the people running the event. Recommendations are never sold.
Are tracking parameters allowed on a listing URL?
Not on a free listing. Campaign parameters are removed on submission, and every outbound click already carries utm_source=marketingcal.com so organisers see the traffic in their own analytics. A booked Listing Promotion keeps whatever parameters the advertiser supplies.
What does the Featured label mean?
Featured marks a paid placement. Featured listings are labelled wherever they appear and their links are marked as sponsored.
Why is a cancelled conference still shown?
A cancellation is often recorded nowhere else once the organiser removes their page. Keeping the entry, clearly marked, is more useful than deletion.
How often does the calendar change?
Continuously. New conferences appear as they are reviewed, and the date beside the byline records the last full pass.
How do the email alerts work?
An email alert listing conferences added to the chosen topic or country since the last one. Confirming the address takes one click, and so does unsubscribing.
